Academic Support & Study Help
Academic Support Center
Get help from Certified Peer Educators and tutors, join study tables, or work with
someone one-on-one in a welcoming, inclusive space.
Accessibility and Accommodations
If you qualify for academic accommodations (extra time on tests, note-taking help,
etc.), this office makes sure you have an equitable academic experience in and out
of the classroom.
Testing and Evaluation Services
Take placement tests or other exams here. Accessible technology and training available
for students with testing accommodations.
TRIO Student Support Services
A program for first-generation and income-eligible students that offers coaching,
workshops, and a built-in support network.

Booth Library
Professional help to students and faculty in their use of the library and its resources
including individualized assistance, instructional materials, orientation tours, and
specialized research clinics.
PantherTech
Use self-help articles to find answers to your technology questions and issues. Email
the Help Desk at support@eiu.edu.
Writing Center
Meet with a writing coach for any assignment 鈥 they鈥檒l help you brainstorm, organize
your ideas, and make your writing stronger.
Electronic Writing Portfolio
Get guidance for the writing samples you need to submit for graduation so you鈥檙e not
figuring it out on your own.

Office of Belonging and Academic Engagement (OBAE)
Creating an academic environment where every individual feels a deep sense of belonging,
has equal access to opportunities, and is actively engaged in their educational journey.
Student Life Office
Enriching the EIU students鈥 experience outside the classroom by providing social,
cultural, and educational programming, providing opportunities for student leadership
and involvement in Registered Student Organizations (RSOs).
Freshman Connection / Transfer Connection
Pairs new first-year and transfer students with peer mentors to help them acclimate
to college life. Participants meet weekly for a free meal to discuss their academic
and social experiences.
Fraternity and Sorority Life
Empowering fraternity and sorority members with educational programming, leadership
opportunities, and resources that promote academic excellence, ethical leadership,
and service.

Career Services
Innovative centralized career development and experiential learning services. Help
with r茅sum茅s, internships, job searches, and figuring out what careers fit your strengths
and interests.

Complete your profile and access EIU campus and local jobs. Find internships and full-time
jobs targeted to the college student. Get messaged by employers that want to hire
you.
Center for Student Innovation (CSI)
Hands-on projects, creative spaces, and opportunities to build new skills 鈥 no experience
needed. Learn how to podcast, use VR, and engage with the 3D printers!

Wellbeing, Personal Support, & Student Care
Counseling Clinic
Accessible and confidential counseling to support your mental and emotional health.
Dean of Students
Helps with emergencies, financial or personal challenges, and situations that might
impact your ability to stay in school.
Health Education Resource Center (HERC)
The HERC offers health programming and education in the areas of alcohol, tobacco
and other drug use, flu and cold prevention, nutritional analysis, and sexual health.
Campus Recreation
Informal and formal recreational activities in a safe, enjoyable environment. The
Student Rec Center is free for all students.
University Police Department
Community policing initiatives dedicated to cultivating a transparent, accountable,
and collaborative environment and embracing the broad diversity of our stakeholders.

Produced by the Illinois Coalition for Community Services, this guide provides opportunities
across the county.
