Applications open Friday, September 11, and are due Thursday, October 2

Once your application is in, plan to have your space decorated and on display by Monday, October 12. Judges will make their rounds on Tuesday, October 13 between 1 and 4 p.m., so please have a representative from your office/department present during your scheduled time, and we'll follow up with a detailed judging schedule once applications close. Winners will be announced Friday, October 16.

Entries compete in one of three categories:

• Offices/Departments
• Residence Halls/Greek Court
• Cafeteria/Food Court

Judges will be scoring out of 100 points across four criteria: Spirit (25 pts, your use of the “Lights, Camera, Panthers!” Hollywood theme, EIU colors, logos, and mascot), Creativity (25 pts, artistic design and originality), Display (25 pts, how you use the space and arrange your decorations), and Overall Appeal (25 pts, overall appearance and school pride).

Homecoming 2026 plaques will be awarded to the 1st place winner in each category, and the 1st place Office/Department will additionally receive up to a $200 catered lunch for staff. 

A few things to keep in mind as you plan your display: no nails, tacks, duct tape, or staples. All adhesives must be fully removable, and no glitter, confetti, or glue without prior approval. Decorations also can't block exits, ADA access, or academic spaces. The full rules and regulations are in the application.
