EIU Educator Preparation

Council on Teacher Education

 

The EIU Council on Teacher Education (COTE) develops policies for educator preparation and provides avenues of communication among all of the areas of the University concerned with educator preparation programs. COTE approves/disapproves, reviews, and provides oversight on all matters concerning educator preparation at all levels and regardless of whether they result in licensure.

COTE's members for 2026-27 include:

  • Dr. Danelle Larson (Music Education)
  • Dr. Bonnie Laughlin-Schultz (History Education)
  • Dr. Katie Lewandowski (Science Education)
  • Dr. Cori More (Special Education)
  • Dr. Jeanne Okrasinski (Middle Level Education)
  • Dr. Stephen Lucas (Ex-Officio) (Executive Director - Educator Preparation, Licensure, and Assessment)
  • Dr. Holly Farley (Ex-Officio) (Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs)

COTE meetings for Fall 2026 will be on Thursdays, 1:00-2:00 pm in the College of Education, Health, and Human Services Conference Room (1420 Buzzard Hall), on these dates: August 27, September 10, September 24, October 8, October 22, November 12, December 10.

Click here to download the required form to request that COTE approve Continuing Professional Development Hours (CPDH) for events for educators.  Please note that this approval must be granted prior to any publicity stating that CPDHs will be available; submit the completed form to Dr. Angela Anthony (abanthony@eiu.edu) at least three months prior to the event to facilitate approval in a timely manner.
