Overview

The Minor in Digital Media Technology prepares students to create, manage, and deploy digital content across websites, interactive media, animation, visual effects, gaming, and digital communication platforms. The program emphasizes both technical and creative skill development, helping students understand how digital systems are designed, implemented, and managed in modern organizations. 

Students develop expertise in web development, digital media production, animation, user experience design, digital photography, content management systems, video production, and digital strategy. Coursework combines technical implementation with project planning, communication, and media management skills that are highly valued across a variety of industries. 

Unlike traditional design or media programs, EIU's Digital Media Technology program focuses on the technical production and management of digital systems. Students learn how to build and maintain web platforms, develop interactive experiences, manage digital content, and support digital communication initiatives in real world environments. 

The program offers opportunities to explore specialized areas such as web development, animation and visual effects, digital media production, gaming, simulation, user experience, and digital strategy. Through project based coursework and applied learning experiences, students build professional portfolios that demonstrate their technical and creative abilities. 

Graduates are prepared for careers in web development, digital design, digital marketing, content management, animation, visual effects, multimedia production, user experience design, and related technology focused fields. Students choose EIU because of its balance of technical expertise, creative development, applied learning, and preparation for careers in the rapidly evolving digital media industry.
