Emotional Support Animal
Request and Approval Process
Requests for Emotional Support Animals for Fall 2026 are temporarily on hold as we work to update the policy and process to reflect changes in the federal guidance regarding ESAs. We expected to have the revised policy completed soon and will begin taking requests for Fall 2026 after May 1, 2026.
Students wishing to request an animal for Summer 2026, please contact the Office of Accessibility and Accommodations at accommodations@eiu.edu for information on how to apply.
Animals are not allowed into University Housing until the process has been fully completed and the resident has official approval from University Housing to bring the animal to campus.
